Moon-bowl
This project builds on the casting technique I developed. I invest a significant effort into making a master object from wood with my CNC machine, then I create a silicone mold, allowing me to reproduce the object as many times as I want. This process enables me to make high-quality, beautiful objects that remain affordable.
Often, when I create something, people ask: "but what is it?" Why must beauty always serve a function? This is my response to them: I made a beautiful moon-bowl—a functional object. But the moment you use it, filling it with fruit, its beauty is lost.
Or is it?
Does beauty disappear when we can no longer see it, or does it exist beyond our perception?
And then I have another question: Is the bowl beautiful because it resembles the moon, or is it beautiful in its own right? If Beauty is something an object can transmit, then this bowl is a vessel—not just for fruit, but for the moon’s beauty itself.
I believe we should fill our homes with beauty, surrounding ourselves with what is good. Too often, we look for function as a way to justify our desire, as if beauty alone were not enough. But Beauty is enough. It is a worthy purpose in itself.
