Golden circles
For this project, I repurposed an old round tabletop I found at the Materialenbank in Herent. Using reclaimed wood from second-hand items is often much more affordable than starting from scratch while also adding depth by giving new life to existing materials.
I made the lamps from concentric rings, which minimized material use. This method eliminates the need to glue wooden segments into a hexagon before cutting the rings—a process that works but isn’t cost-effective. By optimizing my approach and using reclaimed materials, I was able to create these lamps at an attractive price.
This lamp is a natural continuation of my walnut-moon, pushing the concept of wood-infused light even further. I removed all the wood from the center, leaving only a delicate wooden ring. The golden glow in the center of the lamp is created by bouncing light off a wooden reflector, infusing it and directing it inward towards the center. On the outside of the ring, the light has its natural color, creating a contrast between pure and infused golden light.
